Alumina – a Pearly Monarch

Pearly Monarch

The Pearly Monarch is a true mid century classic. Built with an aluminium hull and a wooden deck covered by a sliding roof in GRP this is a real blend of boatbuilding materials. Currently owned by an erstwhile collector of special and interesting boats Alumina is a rarity and in exceptional condition. She has lived in a boathouse on Windermere for the season then overwintered on a bespoke trailer in a warehouse nearby. The engine has been regularly serviced.

Originally a Norfolk Broads police launch when built by Windboats of Norfolk in the mid nineteen fifties and restored in 2011. The following year Alumina won three awards at the Classic Motor Boat Rally on Windermere, Best Boat in show, Best Aluminium boat and Chairman’s trophy – a hat trick. The boat seats 6 or 7 people and is very versatile as the sliding roof is removable and a tonneau can be fitted to leave the aft seating open. This is a great all year round boat for those who still enjoy cruising in the quieter months.

The Volvo Penta 4 cylinder engine gives her a good turn of speed and she has a petrol tank with a capacity of 53 litres.

She was valued in 2011 at £25,000. A trailer is available at extra cost.
