Foxglove – a Hobbs slipper stern launch

An unusual Hobbs slipper stern launch

Foxglove first came to HSC about 12 years ago at Hambleden when a blind boatbuilder made contact having rebuilt a slipper stern launch which had been found a wreck. He said that there was no call for such boats in Cardiff but that he knew that on the Thames she would find a home. Indeed she is now with the second owner since the rebuild and both have kept her within a short distance of her original home in central Henley where Hobbs main charter base is now located. Unusually the cockpit is larger than you would find on an Andrews 25 ft slipper launch and there is room for two additional lloyd loom chairs or a picnic table. The decks and interior are of varnished mahogany as is the aft bench with a wickerwork seat back inscribed with the name Foxglove. The boat has an off white canopy with a frilled edge as well as a full length cover to protect the decks while moored. A new carpet has recently been fitted over the varnished plywood floor. The Boat Safety certificate is valid until March 2021. For viewing in Henley please call the office on 01491 578870

The owner is going to build a boat which is trailable so the Henley town centre mooring is available by separate negotiation.
