Bella – a vintage harbour launch

An interesting canopied vintage harbour launch

Bella, a handsome and unusual launch and occasional weekender, is built of red deal planking on oak ribs, teak superstructure and teak decks.

She is believed to have been a Southampton Authority harbour launch built in 1928. Often used for the commute between the Isle of Wight and Southampton as well as on the Medina.

During the winter of 2008/9 topsides were taken right back and she had 6 coats of paint, rubbed down between each coat, the varnish was also taken right back and 10 coats applied, again rubbed down between each coat and of course re anti fouled.

Winter of 2017 the topsides and hull were rubbed and repainted and re anti-fouled.

The engine is a Vetus 4 cylinder diesel and with the addition of a bow thruster this is a highly manouevrable launch in which two people can sleep very comfortably. She has a loo cubicle for a port-a-potty.

The large aft cockpit could easily be opened up into the wheelhouse making this an ideal boat for entertaining.

Please call us for an appointment to view the boat afloat on the Thames with optional mooring.
