S J Tims of Staines, Middlesex (By Appointment) built 'Camellia' for their hire fleet in 1939 as the last of six slippers produced. She was the only one whose hull was crafted of Honduras mahogany and whose decks where planked with silver spruce. As a result of the war, engines were in very short supply and consequently it was 1949 before 'Camellia' was given her "Ford" and finally commissioned into the fleet. 'Camellia' is the only surviving Thames Slipper Launch built by Tims. Her first private owner was Rowena Taylor, who worked for the BBC and who purchased her from Tims in the last 50's. In May 1994, whilst named 'Rosie Lee', she was brought to Woottens for a total re-build.In 2001 her engine Ford 100E 36 horsepower engine was re-built including the cylinder head being skimmed, her cylinder block having had a re-bore in 1990. In 2008 a twin axle trailer was purchased and is included in the sale. There is a full folding canopy as well as a cockpit tonneau cover and overall winter cover, all in burgundy acrylic. The 4 Lloyd loom chairs have matching red cushions piped in white. The wooden floor is covered in new coconut coir flooring edged with red leather. Camellia was recently photographed for an article in Motorboats Monthly to appear later this year.
