Built by Harry Gibbs at Hampton Wick in the roaring twenties and therefore predating slipper stern launches but very much influenced by automobile design at that time, Gibbs launches are sought after by Thames enthusiasts for their elegance and originality.

A familiar sight on the Thames in July at the Traditional Boat Rally as well as in August on Windermere at the Classic Motor Boat Rally where she won an award in 2006, Debonair is a much loved example of the elegant Gibbs open motor launch. Built in 1922/23 of mahogany on oak and powered by a Gaines Universal BN1 of some 1500 cc (rebuilt in 2002), Debonair has been in the same ownership since 1995 during which time the stem, transom and shaftlog have all been replaced while the aft bilge area has been strengthened by the addition of 6 knees. The lloyd loom seating was replaced in 2002 along with new cushions and the canopy constructed in 2005. The boat was featured in an article in The Motoboat magazine in 1923 of which the present owner has a copy. The boat has a new BSS certificate. Her four wheel braked trailer was purpose built by De Graaff in 1995 and comes as part of the sale.
