Melodie is a well known canoe on the Wargrave/Henley stretch and is in immaculate condition. She was built by Peter Freebody & Sons in 1997 having been commissioned to order and has had one owner since new. She is slightly shorter than the double wheeled canoes, at approximately 22' which is ideal for exploring the backwaters and tributaries such as the Loddon and is still suitable for 6 passengers. The keel is oak and main construction is teak/mahogany and ash. The silent running electric motor and gearbox was supplied by Brimbelowe Engineering. Five 12 volt deep cycle batteries are rechargeable and will last for at least 8 hours having been replaced in 2006. In keeping with Freebody tradition she has concealed internal lighting as well as wine glass holders. There is a Kingfisher handpainted adjacent to the signwriting which compliments the colour of the internal furnishings.

She has been stored every winter and fully maintained by Freebody boat builders. Melodie has been recommissioned every spring to ensure complete quality and trouble free summer boating.
