Sereia is one of 2 remaining skimmer hyrdoplanes built as part of a series of 6 for the British Navy during the second world war by John Thornycroft & Co. Constructed from double diagonal mahogany, this rare torpedo boat was restored in Italy to museum standard after 11,000 man hours. The painstaking restoration completed in 1994 included sourcing many period fittings so that the attention to detail is phenomenal. Designed for speed, this fast launch is capable of 36 miles per hour thanks to the step in the hull design which reduces friction known as a "redan".Practically a unique item, the only other similar remaining vessel belongs to the Thai Royal family. The boat has a custom built trailer, 2 bespoke covers and a variety of spare parts. Please contact us for viewing details. A bound limited edition book is also available which documents the history of this unique craft as well as the rebuild.
