Beau Royale is a fine example of this Scandinavian classic family cruiser with plenty of space on board for extended cruising . Constructed of mahogany on oak by Storebro, this is one of the last of this line to be built in wood. After a survey in 2006 all the important areas have been attended to by the owner who transported the boat up to the Thames from her previous home in Gosport. She was lifted out of the water last autumn for repair much of which was done locally by the Brownjohn team. Work completed prior to relaunch includes replacement of all suspect planking, hull scraped back to original wood and repainted with three coats of white paint complemented by a blue waterline. The topsides were also scraped back and revarnished. The teak decking has been treated with Deks Olje while all windows and joints have been resealed although some attention is required around the forward screen to complete the restoration. A smart blue canvas canopy completes the picture. Below decks are four full berths, two in the bow plus two singles in the stern with a hanging cupboard and sink, and two occasional berths in the main saloon which are converted within the eating area. To starboard there is a full galley with a two ring gas cooker above the grill and oven. A shower unit features in the heads with pump out toilet and holding tank. Cold water only but no doubt a calorifier would provide hot water if required. She is licensed on the Thames until December 2008 with a BSS certificate valid until June 2010.
