Picture the upper Thames at sunset on an autumn day with nothing interrupting the view other than fields and still water. Turn around and you catch a glimpse of Allegretto with a pretty pub and an old bridge beyond. The boat itself is a pretty estuary cruiser built by Lady Bee Limited of Sussex in 1939 of carvel mahogany on oak timbers. The foredeck is of laid planking covered in painted and textured plywood. On the foredeck there is a square hatch and double teak skylight fitted with bronze fairheads and mooring cleats, mast tabernacle and galvanised oil bath anchor windlass. The teak wheelhouse has a painted plywood top fitted with sliding glass windows to each side and bronze navigation lamps. The small aft deck is of varnished laid decking with a filler cap to the fuel tank below. The cockpit has an aft bench seat, central engine box, and side locker stowage. Wheel steering is to port. The step down to the saloon is via a polished door to starboard. The main saloon has the original fitted sideboard and charming comfortable seating. All furnishings have been recently replaced.The forward cabin has a double berth with the galley area on the port side and to starboard a loo compartment.The engine is a BMC Newage Commander 2178cc 4 cylinder diesel which has been recently reconditioned. Instrumentation includes ammeter, oil pressure and water temperature gauges, and echo sounder.Allegretto is for sale with cushions, and canopy. There is current membership to The Swan (Radcot) Cruiser Club in Oxfordshire and moorings may be available in this location. The BSS Certificate is due for renewal and the expiry of the EA licence is December 2011.Allegretto is available to view by appointment in Oxfordshire.
