Dawn is a pretty, clinker built classic 'jolly' boat built in the early 1920s with mahogany on ash frames. She was built by Watercroft of East Mosley who were well known for supplying boats to the Admiralty. Two gentlemen from Yorkshire discovered her under a tarpaulin in a boatyard near Doncaster and during the next two years they restored her rebuilding her using 'period' timbers. The hull was heat stripped back to bare wood and a new oak keel fitted. She was re-planked, re-riveted and generally repaired using reclaimed mahogany to replicate how the boat would have been originally, restoring and re-using as much as they could of the original wood to refit the inside. Her Stuart Turner engine has been totally rebuilt and her trailer refurbished. Dawn has been used on the Norfolk Broads for the past two years and has attracted much attention, admiration and critical acclaim for the standard of her restoration. She has now had many coats of 'deks-oilja'. A new battery and a new top quality cover were fitted in 2011.There is a BSS Certificate valid until 17 April 2014.The current owner is reluctantly selling her due to a move away from the river. She is available to view by appointment.
