Gillan is of uncertain origin but was almost certainly a seagoing launch with her attractive flared bow. Probably built in the late fifties of mahogany on oak, her shapely mahogany decks and screen give her an air of rakish charm akin to that of the prewar Chris Craft so popular on the Northern American lakes.

Gillan is unique on the Thames having been rescued by an enthusiast who asked the Dennetts to imagine a new future for her as an inland waterways boat. They chose a 2.2 kilowatt Vetus electric propulsion unit to enhance her green credentials while epoxy coating the wooden hull to ensure low maintenance in the future. The seating arrangement provides for a forward seated skipper on one Lloyd loom chair accompanied by one guest on a matching chair and up to another four guests seated on the cushioned aft bench and the midship demi lune mahogany stools which double as steps or useful tables when there are less than six people on board.

Gillan has a cockpit tonneau and could have a pramhood if required at extra cost.
