Susanna is a Plymouth Estuary rowing gig and was built by Skentlebury's of Plymouth in approximately 1954. She is constructed of larch on oak with 3 sets of oars on gunmetal rowlocks. She is constructed of clinker larch planking on oak ribs combined with a mahogany transom and thwarts with oak knees and stem. The current owner has restored her under the watchful eye of Colin Henwood fitting new oak ribs (the originals were probably rock elm which is unobtainable). She was originally painted inside and out so all the old paint was hand scraped and then she was completely varnished. There is a cover which needs repair to a tear if she is to be left outside as currently she is being kept in the owner's garage. Please contact HSC Boats to discuss our recommendation of buying an electric outboard for her, such as a Torqeedo. She has an old Seagull outboard which comes as part of the package. After the initial take up she will give hours of pleasure and is an ideal fun family boat for the river or the sea. The trailer is included in the price.
