The Lady Olwyn was originally built in 1963 on mahogany on oak with marine ply decking and cabin sides. The builders were Lambie the company which built all the boats for Trinity House. She is extremely well equipped with Radar, VHF, GPS, fish hinder, microwave oven, a new canopy and a full length overall winter cover. She will be ashore under cover in North Shields for the winter. The boat is in excellent condition (survey dated November 2004) having been restored by the previous owner over a 12 year period during which 50 % of the planking was replaced as was the whole of the interior using West system epoxy resin for added protection. A factory re conditioned Perkins 85 hp was marinised and a new P.R.M. gearbox and transmission added. All the domestic and engine electrics, batteries and marine electronics are new.Below the previous owner installed a chemical toilet and cold water sink with separate galley sink, Calor gas cooker and fridge. Two 6 ft Vee bunks provide sleeping accommodation in the forward cabin while a large folding double bunk/dinette are featured in the main cabin.All the wood work was revarnished Summer 2009 to contrast with the while clinker hull. Since the restoration The Lady Olwyn has recorded only little over 100 hours use. She is now afloat on the Thames with a BSS certificate valid until 2011.
