Ina May – An Andrews greyhound launch

£30,000

A refurbished Andrews slipper stern or greyhound launch

Ina May was originally named Radegund when built by Andrews of Bourne End in the mid nineteen fifties and found by a friend who felt she just had to be restored. He commissioned Paul Brownjohn in Henley on Thames to do a ground up restoration which included a new engine; in this case a Vetus which was chosen for smooth running and reliability. The restoration was completed in 2015 and the boat sold to a new owner in 2017. Unfortunately the latter has found little time to go boating and decided that someone else should have the pleasure. Restoration photos are available showing stages of the restoration.

The build plate shows number 335 and more information could be obtained from the Andrews oracle, Neil Garside, who has all the records showing which boats were built for whom and with which options during the whole history of the Bourne End yard.

Greyhound or slipper stern launches as they are commonly known, have a variety of finishes and this particular launch has the contrasting decking both inside and out in pine and mahogany with blue Lloyd loom chairs and matching aft bench cushions. The steering wheel is a fifties car steering wheel but it must be said that these boats were the E types of the river and much influenced by contemporary car production.

Ina May has a full length cover to protect her from the elements as well as an aft hood in blue. She can be inspected at our Beale Park boat store. She has a current BSS certificate for the inland waterways and will have a fresh coat of antifouling in time for her relaunch this summer.

Available now for viewing at our Beale Park boat store.
