We are having a record year for boat sales. Six slippers have already gone, and three more are under offer. Three Dunkirkers are heading off to new owners and sales enquiries are coming in on a daily basis. During August we sold a baker’s dozen – that is nearly a boat every other day. Gillian is definitely in need of a holiday!
Charter has also been very good this summer. One particular 70th birthday celebration on the river sticks in our minds. The guests hopped on board the majestic Windsor Belle at The Compleat Angler, cruised down the river in glorious sunshine sipping elderflower mocktails and prosecco, and nibbling on canapes and afternoon tea. The guests then disembarked back at The Compleat Angler for an incredible tasting menu at Sindhu, before retiring for a well-deserved good night’s sleep! We would definitely recommend this charter for anyone with a special birthday next year.
We are pleased to introduce the newest member of our ever expanding team, Stuart Roberts. From 1st October, Stuart will be co-director of HSC with Gillian. A dab hand at engineering, your boat will be in very capable hands. Stuart will be in charge of the operations side of HSC, running our winter storage facilities, organising transportation, engineering and basic boat maintenance. Stuart has been in the industry around the Thames area since he was 15 when he first discovered a passion for traditional boats. Our plan is to have an office at Beale Park boat store where Stuart will be based. If you would like him to come and take a look at your boat with a view to winterisation, repairs or even the replacement of your engine with one of our silent running electric propulsion systems, then please email firstname.lastname@example.org. He is welcomed to the company with open arms. Talking of Winter Storage, we are filling up fast. Please ring Alex on 01491578870 for a full list of prices.
Boat of the Month
After selling three Dunkirk Little Ships recently: Mada, Lady Isabelle and Deenar, Fedalma II is still available to complete the quartet. She is fantastically original, right down to the cut glass tumblers she still has on board. This majestic 47ft vessel has an incredible history, which can be read on her sales page of our website.
Thames Traditional Boat Festival
We couldn’t possibly make it through this newsletter without saying a big thank you to the organising committee of the rebranded Thames Traditional Boat Festival. It is true that the sun shone all weekend but in addition to all the fantastic boats which appeared from up and down the river and even further afield, we were treated to pukka grub from our charter caterers, The Golden Ball, and to thousands of delighted visitors.
Gillian and Alex were in Chichester for the annual Goodwood Revival last weekend. Armed with two fabulous boats, Minnie Shoo Shoo and our gorgeous Yacht Tender, Blaest jackets and brimming enthusiasm, we had a fantastic three days. Thank you to all of our customers who visited. Amid 180,000 strangers it was lovely to catch up with those of you with a passion for floating vessels as well as those with four wheels!
Make a note in your diaries – The Quince Tree are hosting a charity fashion show on the evening of Tuesday 13th October. Boatique will be there in full Blaest gear, along with some very fetching wellies. A few members of our staff may have agreed to step in as models! Watch this space… In the meantime, come and see our range of men’s winter Sperrys and some very trendy calf length wellies for the ladies.
